Eastbourne Gym Calls for Nature Prescriptions
DB Local Heroes: Cargo Gym
On Tuesday 18th Jan 2022, Cargo Gym took to their social media accounts to let their followers know about something important they had been up to.
Still amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, people were more aware than ever of the benefits that came with physical activity, being outdoors, and of course, human interaction, and this offered the Cargo Gym Founders a unique perspective.
With an acute raised awareness, they were able to understand this matter in the long term and would like to make sure we don’t forget about it with the help of local authorities.
In the letter they encouraged GPs to consider offering nature prescriptions (also known as Green Social Prescribing) to their patients, and called for support in doing so.
It is their belief that nature prescriptions should be considered as a viable course of treatment when looking at all options for certain conditions.
The team posted,
“At Cargo we passionately believe in the huge number of physical and mental health benefits that come from exercising outside. Therefore, we have made it our mission to share this information with as many people as we can, to get the country back outside, active, healthy and smiling again. Especially after such a tough 2 years.”
If you would like to know more about the campaign, and read the letter in full, check out the Cargo Gym Instagram. There you’ll also find a link to sign their petition too – we have!
We done to the team, a valiant move towards a brighter, healthier lifestyle for many.
