  • Energy Efficient Tumble Dryers

Tumble dryers aren’t exactly renowned for their energy efficiency, in fact the more ‘luxury’ appliance is often one of the first to be avoided when people are trying to save money on bills. But things are changing and with a focus on sustainability, it actually is the case that these appliances are now built to be effective while using less power.

How are tumble dryers becoming more energy efficient?

The introduction of heat pump technology has heralded the dawn of tumble dryers which use power better, in fact, they actually use up to 50% less energy than their vented and condenser predecessors to do the same job!

How? Well, initial hot air is passed through the drum to start an evaporation process – collecting water from the laundry load. The used hot hair with water is then sent to an evaporator where the water is separated and collected in a reservoir while the air is cleaned and reheated before being recycled back through. The whole process requires less power to conduct and as it works quicker, power is on for less. We love it!

These are our top choice heat pump tumble dryers on the market right now…
