Local Heroes: Cargo Gym

On Tuesday 18th Jan 2022, Cargo Gym took to their social media accounts to let their followers know about something important they had been up to.

Cargo Gym, which offers outdoor fitness classes from Saffrons Oark Eastbourne, has grown in popularity wit local residents since its launch in early 2021; a significant time.

Still amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, people were more aware than ever of the benefits that came with physical activity, being outdoors, and of course, human interaction, and this offered the Cargo Gym Founders a unique perspective.

With an acute raised awareness, they were able to understand this matter in the long term and would like to make sure we don’t forget about it with the help of local authorities.

Precious Cargo

The gym have sent 51 letters to local GPs, Politicians and all the board members of the NHS East
Sussex Trust
, including Caroline Ansell, Josh Babarinde and The Mayor of Eastbourne.

In the letter they encouraged GPs to consider offering nature prescriptions (also known as Green Social Prescribing) to their patients, and called for
support in doing so.

“At Cargo we passionately believe in the huge number of physicaland mental health benefits that come from exercising outside. Therefore, we have made it our mission to share this information with as many people as we can, to get the country back outside, active, healthy and smiling again. Especially after such a tough 2 years.”

We done to the team, a valiant move towards a brighter, healthier lifestyle for many.
